Shed Antlers, Shooting Range, and Trail Camera Pictures

After a weekend of shooting 22's and doing a bit of work around the ranch and on the shooting range I am taking some time to upload some pictures. It was beautiful weather here in Central Texas and the kids and I had a great time. the kids even found some shed antlers while walking around and riding in the Jeep.

I did a little shooting of the 22's this weekend. From left to right: S&W M&P 22, GSG 1911 22 "Open gun" with 15 Round mag, Sig Sauer Mosquito 22 with 15 round magazine (yes, 15 rounds! Coming soon), Glock 17 with Tactical Solutions 22 conversion kit.
Ever so slowly our rifle and pistol range is coming along. This time I've added a bench for gear and a rifle rack.
800 pounds of concrete for the deck addition to the hunting cabin. Stay tuned for the next video!
The kids showing off their sheds!
Here Piggy!  Disregard the date stamp.  It seems like I can never get it set right.

Putting together the new 600 pound feeder.  You can find some great deals on hunting stuff after the season is over.  I got this feeder for $100!  Granted it was missing the control box, but that was an easy fix since we had an extra one.

Fall Guy Safety System

After hearing all the horror stories from the ER about the accidents from opening weekend where hunters fell from their tree stands... I thought it was time to get some kind of safety system. After all, if I fall, I'd like to continue to hunt the rest of the season and not be incapacitated or even dead. So I looked into a Harnesses that was easy to put on and some kind of tether system like the Fall Guy

Canadian Young Bull Moose

A co-worker of mine in Canada sent me this photo of a young bull moose living in his neighborhood. The young moose has just shed his antlers. Man, I'm not sure what I would do with all that moose meat if I ever shot one. Let alone pack it out of the back country. BUT, I guess with this particular moose you would just drag it back across the street into the driveway :)

Dominant Buck Rub (UPDATE)

The 1st buck in the video below was shot a few days ago as a management buck. Unfortunately by the time he was harvested, he had done some serious damage to his antlers. He would have made a great shoulder mount.

Dominant Buck and His Rub

We've all seen the signs if you look close enough while scouting through the back country. But it is rare to actually see one being made. Watch as these two beautiful bucks leave their mark on a South Texas Sendero.

November 2012 "Trail Camera Pictures"

Here is a sample of the photos that our trail cameras pick up. We have been shooting spike bucks for over 10 years now and it is finally starting to pay off. The antler quality of our deer is increasing very nicely. Please ignore the date stamps on the photos. I can never get the clock set correctly.
We have a few exotics running around like these Sika Deer
The deer on the far left has a very nice set of antlers for our area.
This is what we would call a cull

Thanksgiving Hunting with Family & Friends

Frying the turkey for Thanksgiving.
Watching the Turkey cook and drinking a beer.
Mmmm, look at all that crispy goodness!
The kids wanting to go for a ride in the Jeep.
A couple of the wives heading out for a drive around the Ranch.
I did not have room for my bow in the truck with all the gear so I decided to hunt with my 38 Super IPSC pistol.  Nothing ever came up.
One of the guys I hunt with is a doctor and when I saw his stethoscope hanging out of his hunting bag, I just had to take a picture.  It looks so out of place.
Early morning sun rise on the lever action rifles.
Safety is key when in a tree stand.  Always wear a safety harness.  One of the guys dropped his bow and it landed on the quiver and drove a broadhead through it.  Fortunately is was not a long drop so his bow is ok.
